chasing sunlight

Coat on, sneakers tied, camera around my neck, I rush out of the house. Running as I hit the doormat, not wanting to miss a second of golden hour.

That's my after school routine. Chasing sunlight.

Seriously; sometimes I need to call out that small amount of freedom I have as a completely irresponsible (almost) thirteen year old, and run across the street to the field that lie beyond it.

By sometimes, I mean almost everyday.

You guys, my life's been hectic recently. In a wonderful, I'm-so-grateful-for-this sort of way. I started NaNoWriMo yesterday (no more time for spontanious photography trips :,(  ), a day early on account of my trip to Chicago (which I live about two hours away from) this November and therefore inability to write for two days. I'm really serious about getting this novel done (want to measure my seriousness? Check how much coffee I've been drinking per day.) and I want to appologize if I go MIA for the majority of November.

Also on my gratefulness list; the monster named Sandy. I am so grateful and happy that I am not anywhere near the storm (I grew up in New Jersey, and spent most summer weekends in Seaside Heights, which is currently FLOODED, so...) and am very sorry for anybody being affected by the storm. If anybody reads this... gosh, know that I love you all so much, and I hope that everything goes well.

Snapshots (point and shoot photos of my Oct.)
I recently experienced the most gorgeous sunset, but I was camera-less besides my p&s...
Last week, I woke up and left my house to head to school to this weather...... gorgeous, but not fun. (I am aware of how TERRIBLE the quality is. It was six AM and this was taken with my phone.)
(Not so) spontanious trips to fall farms
And, of course.... my Hallows costume for today. I'm supposed to be Rita Skeeter (from HP).

Tip of the cap,

Nina.

This is the post where I get really nerdy

Okay. Bear with me. Today I found a DOCTOR WHO BLOG PARTY LINKUP. So here's about the post where I get nerdy to the extreme and post copious amounts of pictures of David Tennant (look. I didn't put a heart. I'm restraining myself).

Anyway, here are the questions and my answers:

1| If you decided to name your first born child after any Doctor Who character, male or female, who would it be?Well, we still don't know The Doctor's full name.... I like Amelia, that's a pretty name, Amy, but my favourite character is Rose, so..... I guess Amelia Rose would probably be what I'd name my kid

*awkward silence*

Wait, what was that a picture of?
2| What is your favourite colour of the Doctor's shoes?
Finally. Somebody. Asks. Red. RED CONVERSE!!! (restrain. yourself. nina.) Anyway, I don't like the cream ones, sorry people...
3| Look around yourself and name the one thing that is TARDIS blue in your house!
My model TARDIS. Not a legit answer? Umm my computer cords (THEY'RE BIGGER ON THE INSIDE!)
4| If you could pick who plays the Twelfth Doctor which actor would you choose and why?
Jokingly, I'd say Alan Rickman, but not really... that would be a bit depressing. I'm not sure. Bill Nye (of Science Guy fame) would actual make a pretty good Doctor, but a) he'd be a replay of Matt Smith, and b) he's American
5| The Doctor is going back in time again, which historical era should he visit?
1969 again!
6| Would you REALLY go with the Doctor in the TARDIS?
Yes. Who. Do. You. Think. Would. Say. No.?
7| Who's your favorite Doctor and why?
TEN TEN TEN TEN TEN TEN TEN TEN. And because he's funny and epic and just.... just the better than the rest (also, cough cough look at a picture of him. LOOK. Now.)
8| Would you be afraid to spend Christmas in London?
No. I'd help the Doctor and get my trip to the past and trip to the future like a brave girl *shudders a bit*
But seriously, I wouldn't be afraid. Well, I might be, but major point= I'd go.

9| Do you look at an ordinary screwdriver and think 'this could be a bit more sonic?'
All of the screwdrivers I've ever laid eyes on were indeed sonic.

10| Angel statues, plastic mannequins, Christmas trees - what ordinary everyday object would you love to make an object of terror to Whovians were you Steven Moffat?
Teddy Bears. And terrify the little whovians. I mean, if I thought like Steven Moffat.
11| The TARDIS lands in your garden and the Doctor steps out. What is the first thing you say to him?

OH MY GOD WHERE WERE YOU I FREAKING WAITED FOR YOU. 36 YEARS I WAITED FOR YOU OH GOD.
12| Who is your favorite actor who has played the Doctor so far and why?

David Tennant and I don't think I need to explain that.
13| Have you seen any Classic Doctor Who? If so, which Doctor/episode(s) is your favorite? The Ark In Space. And my favourite classic doctor= 4
14| Which are the creepiest, scariest and all-out meanest baddies in all the Who-niverse?
Those dolls in Night Terrors. I don't care about gas masked zombies or scary statues or - what was I going to type?- just. get. those. dolls. away. NOW.
15| Who is/are your favorite Companion(s) and why?
Rose. And I absolutely hate River for taking her place.
16| Did you cry more watching Doomsday or The Angels Take Manhattan?I came near crying during Doomsday. Not even close with The Angels Take Manhattan.
17| What is your favorite quote from the show?

Ah, so many...... I guess:

"We're all just stories in the end. Make it a good one."
18| Which Doctor (including all previous regenerations) would you most like to be the companion of, and why?
TEN. TEN. TEN. Cause he's the most fun (okay, that's arguable. But...)
19| Which of the following are you more scared of, the Daleks, Cybermen, or the Weeping Angles?
WA. But the scariest are A) Dolls, B) The Silence and C)The Gas Masked Zombies
20| Who are some of your favorite guest stars in the series?
Ummmmmmm
21| What was your first experience with Doctor Who and how did you hear about the series? My first experience was seeing "The Big Bang 2" on television and thinking THIS IS AMAZING AND SO FREAKING CONFUSING about a year and a half ago.... then I was talking to my friends (who are huge nerds) and they were all "DOCTOR WHO IS FANTASTIC!" so I started watching it from the beginning of the 5th series and loved it... and now I'm the world's biggest whovian.
22| The Ninth Doctor said, 'Fantastic!', Ten said, 'Allons-y', and Eleven says, 'Geronimo'; what would you like to be the signature exclamation of the Twelfth Doctor?
I. have. no. idea. Honestly, I just want Ten back.
23| If you were trapped in an episode, which one would it be?
Blink. Or..... no.... I'd die of fright...let's see.... The End of Time.
24| Which is your favorite episode with each Doctor (Nine, Ten and Eleven)?

Nine= Bad Wolf+The Parting of The Ways; Ten= The End of Time; Eleven= Aslym of The Daleks.
25| After watching a certain
Doctor Who episode, did you summon up the courage to try fish sticks and custard?
I wish I could say I did. I wanted to...... but we never have fish sticks or custard in my house.

AND WITH THAT, I CONCLUDE your daily share of nerdiness. (If you're obsessed, too, link up here)

a letter to november, who snuck in early

It is, I suppose, October according to the thinking of the (inanimate, but capable of thought in my "creative" *insane* mind) object that is my calender. However, as I am typing this, the fog that's settled around the city seems to be enough for me to take the cliche blogger route and announce that, in my own mind, it is already November.

No.

No. No.

Let's restart that paragraph, shall we?

The mist outside has swirled itself around every possible object- so much so that *my hometown* resembles in itself The Underworld, and has been stretching my capacity to think of a poetic sounding simile-

Oh scratch that.

Let the pictures (and song lyrics) speak for themselves.

Hello, November-

I see you've come early.

Good Things

01. my mom and I went to see the show LEO the day before yesterday, and it was fantastic. I can't really describe it without ruining everything, it has to be a surprise; I didn't want to go, but I'm so so so happy that I did. And, I'm really angry that I didn't think of it myself. (Which my mom says, is the measure of how good artwork is)

02. it's finally that gorgeous fall weather that I love.....

03. shooting in my favourite light- which is, strangely, not golden hour, but that bright, bright light in midmorning. like, squint-your-eyes-200-is-a-good-shutter-speed-bright.

The Paradox of Joy Versus Sadness

The strangest thing about the month of October, and the season of Autumn in all of its wonder, is that that which we find beautiful in it, is really unlike the things that we humans tend to love. Autumn is perfect in reflecting the truth that, with all sadness and tears in this world comes colour, both literally and figuratively. The leaves of October are dying, melting into our Earth, with them taking the colours that seem to cause us humans so much joy...

It really is odd. The month of October, for all of us represents colour. Variety. Beauty. Change. For Nature, however it represents an ending. A readying for the dormancy of Winter. The real ending to our beautiful and ever-changing seasons.

The photographs are from my trip to Northern Italy, which was technically in summer, but my short visit to the very North, near the border with France, left me feeling of Autumn. Not just the weather, but the crispness, reality of it all, as well as the full knowledge that the adventure was coming to an end.

Enjoy your October.

After The Clouds Fade

I've been trying to write some post or other; play a tribute to October, but my mind has not been functioning in such a way that would honour this month. Many posts have been erased, left as drafts...

It's been raining quite a bit, and each time I hoped it would produce good post rain photographs. Each time I've failed- it's gotten dark before the storm clouds faded, I've been too busy reading...

The storm clouds have been fading figuratively, as well. The Autumnal weather has called me outside, helping to keep myself sane (though even it will not always suffice, knowing me...)

The raindrops among the leaves, really non-existant, really only colours, have been too wonderful to miss. Today I took a deep-breath and faced my fear of going back to taking pictures. It took me a few minutes to find my footing- and to get the manual settings in order- but I was not disapointed by the results.

What You Can Observe

I love to watch people.

Not in the way that my mom- or most people- do; seeing crowds go onward, trying to peek into the stories of each individual passerby.

Not in that way.

I just enjoy being that teenager sitting awkwardly in the park, watching the children play, each day. Attempting to guess who they'll someday be. Watching them get slightly older with each new visit.

It sounds like the pastime of an elderly person- watching other childhoods. Not interfering. Just watching.

I always thought myself the Stargirl type. I didn't think I would just like to stand there.

I always thought that, if I was traveling with The Doctor, I wouldn't be content to watch. I'd want to interfere; be a part of history.

Who knows; those 5 year olds at the park may be our next history. They might grow up to be our presidents, our scientists; our future.

You can never guess.

Happy October.
DFTBA.
