Essence of a Place :: My Corner Of The City- Part 1

For the past two weeks, I've been running around with my camera, trying to capture the essence of my neighborhood- Why? Perhaps because I have always wanted to go back and have some sort of a keepsake besides just a memory of my hometown in New Jersey, where I grew up. Or perhaps, the idea of capturing the feeling- the essence- of a place has always been appealing to me. Either way, this project's been a lot of fun so far. This first batch of photos was primarily taken in the beginning of March, when the light was gray and dim. You can be sure that soon there'll be plenty of photos from the beautiful golden hours & sunsets of the end of March and beginning of April in the next post.

I'm off to Florida tomorrow, and very excited. I might have a guest poster (I already contacted her, she hasn't replied yet.)

Inspiration and a (Rather Small) Photo-Dump

This break has given me quite some time for photography- in fact, I've even started working on a photo project (which, knowing me, will never be finished. Oh well.)

 

In terms of inspiration, I've had a lot (not alot) more of it recently. It's amazing what the internet takes away from you. Above is an inspiration board I put together recently. On a side note, doesn’t “Engliphile” sound better than “Anglophile”?  There’s no common sense behind calling it Anglophile! Whatever.  Either way, I am one.  (Speaking of the weirdness of the English language...)
